Publication of sets starts in the October issue (v. 2, p. 375) and continues until December, together with detailed demolitions of problems and sets, and the occasional retraction of a published demolition.

Thirty sets were received, of which 19 were found to be faulty. 18 sets were published on diagrams during the period of examination, and a number of demolished problems were published as enigmas together with the details of the fault(s).

The extra prize (see list of awards) was not announced, and is for that reason not included among the prize diagrams. It was donated by L. Centurini when the name envelopes were opened, apparently on the assumption that the set would prove to be by a woman as the motto suggested. As the assuption proved to be correct, the prize was awarded to Contessa E. Volponi, presumably a relative to Conte P. Volponi who received a honorary mention. (The set was published in 2/16 (1876-12-01), p. 431, prbs. 269–271.)
